Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Dungey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stoyan Simovski!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simovski misses with a straight right.
Simovski is looking to clinch but Dungey is avoiding it.
Simovski tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Dungey counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Stoyan Simovski has been cut.
Simovski misses with a body punch
and Dungey counters with a straight right hand.
We've been informed that Simovski has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Simovski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dungey sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dungey moves out of range as Simovski strikes.
As Simovski backs away, Dungey returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simovski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A shot to the body from Simovski misses
and Dungey counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Dungey definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Simovski rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dungey counters with a nice low kick that buckles Simovski's knee momentarily.
Dungey walks into a stiff left hand from Simovski.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dungey takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Simovski. Dungey does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dungey feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Simovski sprawling to the canvas! Simovski rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Dungey finish him?!
Simovski is rocked!
Simovski misses with a lunging right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Simovski is still on wobbly legs! Can Dungey finish him?
Simovski looks winded!
Dungey lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Simovski up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Dungey from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Simovski's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eric Dungey!
A relieved looking Eric Dungey thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
