Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reginald James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ash Lake!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lake tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Lake manages to circle out of the way.
James drops his hands momentarily and Lake takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Lake stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from James.
James connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

James gets control of Lake's arms and successfully pulls guard. James will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
James doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Lake controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lake preventing the sweep.

Lake postures up.

James has his feet on Lake's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
James shoots in looking for a takedown but Lake manages to keep the fight standing, pushing James's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lake works the jab nicely.
Lake with a body punch. A glancing blow.

James clinches up against the cage.
James keeps control of Lake as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
James goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lake prevents it.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

James shoots in and bounces Lake off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James is looking to work some ground and pound but Lake has wrist control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
James wants to control from the top but Lake keeps moving.
Lake is looking to stand back up but James counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lake.
Lake on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

James stands up and beckons Lake to join him on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lake sprawls well. Lake wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lake! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reginald James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

James gets a clinch.
Lake looking for a takedown.
Lake managing to block the knees to the body from James.
Lake is trying to break the clinch but James has him pressed against the cage.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lake tries to clinch but James is having none of it.

Lake shoots in and gets a takedown into James's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

James has his foot on Lake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lake works his way back into a safe position though.

Lake must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lake avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

James looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Lake is defending well. James quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Lake has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! James celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Reginald James!
