PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 3951 p4p, 6620 weight class) and Floyd Mayweather (ranked 472 p4p, 620 weight class). Diaz comes into the arena with The Rain blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather !
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayweather shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mayweather changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Mayweather manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Diaz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mayweather 's guard.
Mayweather really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Diaz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Diaz prevents Mayweather from getting back to his feet.
Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diaz stands up over Mayweather , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mayweather wants to stand and escape but Diaz is having none of it.

Diaz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Catch Wrestling L.A. that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Mayweather is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Diaz is pushing down on Mayweather 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mayweather is fighting to maintain full guard but Diaz has managed to sneak the leg through.
Still in half guard, Diaz seems content to control.

Diaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mayweather to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mayweather shrugs it off.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Diaz! Mayweather is hurt baaadly! Diaz is firing away with more strikes - Mayweather is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nate Diaz!
Nate Diaz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
