Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Goggins (ranked 2396 p4p, 3053 weight class) and Stanislav Strakapoud (ranked 304 p4p, 399 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Goggins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stanislav Strakapoud! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strakapoud fails miserably with a takedown attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Goggins misses the target. Strakapoud misses with a takedown attempt and Goggins counters with a straight punch to the midsection. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Strakapoud is defended easily by Goggins. David Goggins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stanislav Strakapoud. Strakapoud has his takedown stuffed and Goggins counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Strakapoud moves forwards but Goggins connects with a nice, crisp jab. Goggins bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Strakapoud ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Strakapoud changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goggins tries to avoid it but Strakapoud manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goggins to the ground. Goggins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Stanislav Strakapoud seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Strakapoud with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Goggins to score with a decent uppercut. Goggins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Strakapoud moves away. Strakapoud shoots in for a double leg but Goggins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Strakapoud uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Goggins.

Strakapoud's coach down at Brloh was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Strakapoud's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. A jab lands there for Goggins. The fight stays on the outside here - Goggins looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Goggins punishes Strakapoud's body with a nice straight punch. Strakapoud slips under a jab from Goggins. Strakapoud keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Goggins moves out of range as Strakapoud strikes. Strakapoud misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Strakapoud lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Strakapoud takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Strakapoud tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Strakapoud gets tackled into the cage by Goggins. Goggins maintains the clinch. Strakapoud tries to pull guard but Goggins forces him back to his feet, against the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Goggins. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Goggins. Goggins lands a right hand that snaps the head of Strakapoud backwards. Strakapoud is trying to pull guard but Goggins has him pressed against the cage. Goggins misses with the head strike.
Goggins working some nice short punches in the clinch. Goggins tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Strakapoud pulls Goggins into guard.
Goggins seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
