PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tham Boon Yodsuwan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Eatthedragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tham Boon Yodsuwan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Eatthedragon!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yodsuwan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Eatthedragon slips under a jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Yodsuwan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Yodsuwan throws the left hand but Eatthedragon avoids the punch easily.

Eatthedragon feints and as Yodsuwan raises his hands in defense, Eatthedragon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Yodsuwan is pulling down on Eatthedragon's head. It's preventing any offense from Eatthedragon, at least for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Yodsuwan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Eatthedragon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Yodsuwan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Despite being in the dominant position, Bob Eatthedragon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Yodsuwan throws a looping overhand right but Eatthedragon ducks down to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yodsuwan throws the kick towards the body but Eatthedragon avoids it.
Yodsuwan tries to close the distance and clinch but Eatthedragon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Eatthedragon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Yodsuwan pushes Eatthedragon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Eatthedragon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

A lull in the action here as Eatthedragon stalls from top position.
Yodsuwan sneaks back into half guard.
Eatthedragon takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Eatthedragon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yodsuwan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Eatthedragon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Eatthedragon wants to control but Yodsuwan is keeping him busy.

Yodsuwan tries to get to full guard but Eatthedragon has control of the leg.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Eatthedragon. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Yodsuwan regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Eatthedragon.

Eatthedragon shoots for a double leg takedown but Yodsuwan sprawls well. He's pushed Eatthedragon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yodsuwan moves in looking to clinch but Eatthedragon pushes him off.

Eatthedragon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Eatthedragon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nice cross by Yodsuwan.
Bob Eatthedragon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Eatthedragon checks a leg kick.
Tham Boon Yodsuwan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Eatthedragon moves away from the strike by Yodsuwan.
Eatthedragon on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yodsuwan. Yodsuwan obviously looking to wear him down.

Eatthedragon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yodsuwan to the mat! Yodsuwan manages to get full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Eatthedragon has a takedown stuffed.
Yodsuwan tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Eatthedragon is able to avoid easily.
Yodsuwan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Eatthedragon keeps the fight on the outside.
Yodsuwan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Eatthedragon manages to avoid it.

Eatthedragon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Eatthedragon is keen to just control but Yodsuwan is a slippery customer.
Bob Eatthedragon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
