Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Farto Fuerte!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yushi Sakura!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakura falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fuerte counters with a one-two to the body.
Sakura is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fuerte was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Fuerte showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sakura.
Fuerte is looking for a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sakura closes the distance but Fuerte moves to the side
and Fuerte counters with a really nice, stiff jab that drops Sakura onto his ass. He'll have to take the mandatory count from the referee but he's back on his feet and he seems OK to continue.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakura wants to clinch but Fuerte slips to the side
and Fuerte counters with a deadly accurate combination that rocks Sakura badly! He tries to strike back but Fuerte puts an end to that with another precision combo that knocks Sakura out cold! Oh man, Sakura will never hear the end of this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Farto Fuerte!
