Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Steven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rendall Carter!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Steven looks for a takedown but Carter sprawls well.
Carter doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Carter closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Steven did well to prevent Carter getting side control.
Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Carter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Steven is looking to control Carter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Steven avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steven's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

As Carter tries to get set, Steven tries to push him back and clinch up but Carter manages to avoid the attempt.
Steven lands a right hook to the body.
Carter scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
No joy there for Carter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Steven wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Steven misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Carter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steven was well out of range. Poor timing from Carter.

Steven scores with a head kick.
Steven is looking to clinch.
Carter lands a two punch combo.
Steven looks for a takedown but Carter sprawls well.

Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Steven is striking but Carter is not phased and passes to half guard.

Carter is nestled in close to Steven, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Steven gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Carter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Carter stands and steps away. Steven gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Carter decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Steven takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've been informed that Carter has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Steven throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carter's waist but Carter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steven off to one side.
Carter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Steven throws a right and a left that both miss.

Carter shoots in and bounces Steven off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Steven wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carter manages to pass to side control.
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Steven is looking for a sweep. Carter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Carter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Steven is trying to stand up here but Carter is controlling him well.

Steven fails with the takedown.

Carter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Steven looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Steven is looking to get back to his feet here but Carter is keeping cool and he's managed to take Steven's back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carter keeps control of the position as Steven tries to break free.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rendall Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Carter throws a chopping leg kick but Steven manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
A left and a right from Carter both land. Nice combination.
Horrible takedown attempt by Steven or perhaps it was just good defense by Carter, which made it look bad.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steven knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.
