Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ishmael Egyptian (ranked 1514 p4p, 1652 weight class) and Alejandro Laguera (ranked 163 p4p, 174 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ishmael Egyptian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alejandro Laguera!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egyptian misses with a wild body shot.
Laguera counters with a body kick.
Egyptian misses with an uppercut.
Laguera unleashes a big counter combination but Egyptian bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Laguera gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Laguera is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Egyptian dives into side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Egyptian's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Laguera wants to get back to his feet but Egyptian drags him back down.
Egyptian tries to move to mount but Laguera blocks the move with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Laguera takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Laguera is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Laguera seems a little lost for a moment, as Egyptian dominates the positioning.

Egyptian tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Egyptian has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Laguera is pushing Egyptian's head away, looking to escape. Egyptian manages to hold on to the position though.
Egyptian content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Laguera is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Egyptian is controlling him well.
Egyptian takes a little break here. Laguera wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Egyptian tries to score with some ground and pound. Laguera controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Laguera is trying to buck Egyptian off.
The strikes coming from Egyptian are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Egyptian is putting a hurting on Laguera here, landing some big shots from side control.
Egyptian happy to just control the position for now.
Egyptian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Laguera is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Egyptian asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Egyptian wants to control but Laguera is keeping him busy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Laguera parries the strikes from Egyptian easily there. Egyptian is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Laguera to escape.
Laguera looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Egyptian is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Laguera's shoulder. That is not cool.
Laguera wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Egyptian tries to advance to mount but Laguera denies him.
Laguera is pushing Egyptian's head away, looking to escape. Egyptian manages to hold on to the position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Laguera drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Laguera moves out of range as Egyptian strikes.

Laguera lands a nice shot to the body.
Egyptian swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Laguera looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Egyptian displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Egyptian misses with a body shot.
Jab, jab by Egyptian - just one landing.
Egyptian works the jab nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Egyptian ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Alejandro Laguera is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Egyptian throws a lazy uppercut
and Laguera counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ishmael Egyptian dominated that round.

Laguera throws a series of punches but Egyptian moves out of range.
Egyptian tests Laguera's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Egyptian shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Laguera napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Egyptian connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Laguera some visible discomfort.

Egyptian wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Laguera, who protects the arm well.
Egyptian is looking to take a break and control but Laguera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Laguera is trying to buck Egyptian off.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Laguera is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Egyptian is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Laguera can do to turn this around?

Egyptian is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Laguera knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Egyptian cracks Laguera with a big elbow.
Laguera bucks up and tries to throw Egyptian off but instead Egyptian has got his back!

Egyptian goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Laguera escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Egyptian regains full guard. Nicely done.
Egyptian has a closed guard, preventing Laguera from standing up.

Egyptian escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laguera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Laguera stands up from Egyptian's guard - Laguera perhaps looking for a knockout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Egyptian throws out a loose jab but Laguera uses good head movement to avoid it.
Laguera is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Egyptian digs a good hook to Laguera's body.
Egyptian shoots and misses
and Laguera counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Laguera tries to keep at a distance but Egyptian has taken the fight into the clinch.
Egyptian looking to slow down the pace here.

Laguera breaks the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Laguera lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Egyptian circles away quickly and effectively.
Egyptian slips a straight right by Laguera.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ishmael Egyptian dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Egyptian just misses with a punch to the body.
Laguera let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Egyptian shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Egyptian showed some decent athleticism there.
Laguera wants to get back to his feet.
Egyptian lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Egyptian is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Egyptian stops Laguera from getting back to his feet.
Laguera won't allow Egyptian to pass to mount.
Egyptian keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Ishmael Egyptian is winning the standup battle so far.
Laguera with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Egyptian to score with a decent uppercut.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Egyptian rushes Laguera and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Egyptian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Egyptian steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Laguera.
Egyptian tries to bum rush Laguera with a series of wild strikes but Laguera uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
It seemed like Laguera was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Egyptian fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Laguera, pushing him back against the cage.
Laguera tries to circle away but Egyptian has him pinned against the cage.
Laguera is trying to push Egyptian away but Egyptian has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Egyptian displaying some good clinch control by pressing Laguera up against the cage.
Egyptian is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Laguera gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Laguera's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Laguera throws a lazy head kick
and Egyptian connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Laguera tries to sprawl but Egyptian drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Egyptian tries to pass to full mount but Laguera defends it.
Laguera is trying to stand.
Ishmael Egyptian is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Egyptian stalling.
Laguera wants to get back to his feet.
Egyptian controlling the action here.
Alejandro Laguera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Egyptian looks to score with a jab to the body but Laguera is just out of range.

Egyptian fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Laguera to the ground. Egyptian is now in Laguera's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Egyptian is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ishmael Egyptian showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Egyptian has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
