Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abdul Kaloev (ranked 2230 p4p, 3287 weight class) and Yuxiang Wu (ranked 305 p4p, 428 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abdul Kaloev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yuxiang Wu!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wu shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wu showed some decent athleticism there.
Kaloev wants to control but Wu is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Wu wants to pass to mount but Kaloev is defending the position.
Kaloev is looking to control Wu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kaloev avoid being mounted?
Kaloev wants to stand back up but Wu manages to pass into side control.

Wu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kaloev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wu is looking to take a break and control but Kaloev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kaloev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wu's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kaloev is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kaloev frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kaloev swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wu is now in Kaloev's guard. A big mistake from Kaloev there, giving up the dominant position!
Kaloev controls Wu momentarily but Wu frees himself.
Wu wants to control from the top but Kaloev keeps moving.

Kaloev pulls Wu in close to prevent any damage.

Wu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kaloev sees it coming and defends easily.
Kaloev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kaloev is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Kaloev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Wu looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Kaloev is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wu is just riding it out for now. Kaloev eventually gives up the hold.
Wu gets back to full guard.
Kaloev slips nicely into half guard.

Wu has his foot on Kaloev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kaloev works his way back into a safe position though.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kaloev swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Wu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kaloev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kaloev is tightening it up a little... Wu has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Wu reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Wu taps out! Nice BJJ there by Kaloev!

Abdul Kaloev really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Conquer logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
