Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aryah Thurston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew DW! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thurston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Thurston fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Thurston shoots for a takedown but DW saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aryah Thurston. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thurston shoots in but DW avoids the takedown attempt easily. DW avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DW gets the takedown into side control. Thurston trying to remain calm as DW controls from the top position. DW working away. DW slows the pace down. Thurston gets back to half guard. DW seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thurston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Thurston wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DW working over Thurston with some ground and pound. Thurston looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Thurston tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. DW perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. DW wants to control but Thurston is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. DW is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Thurston doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time DW. DW trying to control from half guard but Thurston is working away.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Thurston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. DW is looking for a sweep. Thurston is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. DW really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thurston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. DW punching from the bottom.

DW is looking to control Thurston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can DW avoid being mounted? DW is not content to let Thurston control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thurston seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. DW is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
