1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Anderson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clay is looking to clinch but Anderson is avoiding it.
Clay closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Clay looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Anderson trying to control here.
Clay not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Anderson trying to control from the bottom.
Anderson is looking to improve his position.
Anderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Anderson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Anderson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Clay pulls his head out easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson is looking to control Clay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Anderson avoid being mounted?
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Clay is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Renzo Clay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Anderson. No joy for Clay on that attempt. Anderson gets the takedown into side control. Clay is trying to control Anderson's posture but Anderson avoids it. Anderson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Clay rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Anderson's guard! Nice work there by Clay! Clay won't allow Anderson to sweep him here. Clay controlling from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clay trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Clay won't allow Anderson to sweep him here. Clay thows a big elbow that misses. Clay trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom. Clay could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Clay tries to clinch there but Anderson circles away.
Anderson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Anderson seems to be working for a kimura but Clay defends the submission attempt. Anderson looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson tries to stand and escape but Clay is controlling the position. Clay works his way to full guard. Good work. Anderson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Clay works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Anderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Anderson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Clay lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Anderson! Clay sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Clay throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Clay jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Anderson manages to avoid the submission attempt. Anderson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Clay connects with a decent elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Clay trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Anderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Anderson dodges the ground and pound from Clay. Clay tries to advance to mount but Anderson denies him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Renzo Clay will probably get the nod. That's time! Clay's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Anderson has his takedown stuffed and Clay counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Clay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Anderson looking to control but Clay passes into half guard.
Clay controlling the pace. Clay is thwarting Anderson's attempts to control the position. Anderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Anderson is breathing heavily.

Anderson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Anderson tries to get to full guard but Clay has control of the leg. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clay in particular looking to stall. Clay is trying for a kimura here. Anderson looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Clay wins by kimura!
