Figueira has chosen Eminem - Lose Yourself as his entrance music. Mauricio Figueira will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figueira looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Figueira throws a hook but Diaz blocks it.

Diaz pushes Figueira up against the cage in a clinch.
Figueira is trying to break the clinch but Diaz has him pressed against the cage.
Diaz has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Figueira after a bit of a struggle.
Diaz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Figueira gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Figueira tries to break the clinch but Diaz is controlling the position.

Diaz has picked Figueira up - he's going for a ride! Diaz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Diaz seems to be working for a kimura but Figueira defends the submission attempt.

Diaz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Figueira defend it? Diaz steps over the head and cranks it - Figueira is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Diaz!

A relieved looking Hick Diaz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
