PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grayson Allen (ranked 4830 p4p, 4648 weight class) and Gabriel Sukarno (ranked 545 p4p, 526 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grayson Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabriel Sukarno!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Sukarno. No joy for Allen on that attempt.
Sukarno throws a wild body kick that Allen sees coming a mile off.
Allen misses with a takedown attempt - Sukarno sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And Sukarno tries to counter it with a takedown but Allen pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Allen darts in looking for a takedown but Sukarno gets double underhooks and turns Allen into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grayson Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sukarno has had enough of the clinch but Allen keeps him there for the moment.
Sukarno has a couple of punches blocked by Allen.
Sukarno should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sukarno prevents a takedown attempt there.
Sukarno throws a punch but it's blocked by Allen.

Sukarno pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Allen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Allen blocks the body kick.
Allen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Allen.
Sukarno swats away the attempt to clinch by Allen.

Allen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sukarno to the mat! Sukarno manages to get full guard.
Sukarno is wriggling around but Allen manages to pass to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Allen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Allen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sukarno doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Allen.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sukarno can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Allen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sukarno defending well though.
Allen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sukarno's head.
Allen is trying to control the action in half guard but Sukarno is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Allen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Allen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allen slips a nice elbow through Sukarno's hands, connecting with Sukarno's forehead.
Allen controlling the pace.
Allen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Allen uses his free foot to push down on Sukarno's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sukarno.
Allen wants to control the pace but Sukarno is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Allen looking to secure an arm triangle but Sukarno defends it well.
Allen controlling from the full mount.
Sukarno has given up his back here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Allen working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Sukarno is doing well to defend. Allen seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Sukarno is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Grayson Allen!
