Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Owen Alvarez (ranked 1565 p4p, 1852 weight class) and Greg Fitzgerald (ranked 215 p4p, 255 weight class). Fitzgerald is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by It's Bedtime by Ninja Sex Party. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Fitzgerald!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez closes the distance and clinches.
Alvarez lands a body shot.
Nice body punch from Alvarez.

Alvarez tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Fitzgerald misses with a short punch on the inside.
Alvarez just leaning against Fitzgerald, taking a breather.

Fitzgerald is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alvarez lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Fitzgerald is looking to get back to is feet but Alvarez passes into side control.
Fitzgerald is pushing Alvarez's head away, looking to escape. Alvarez manages to hold on to the position though.
Alvarez is staying tight to Fitzgerald's torso, preventing him from escaping.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fitzgerald can do anything to dispel that myth.

Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fitzgerald is trying to control Alvarez's posture but Alvarez avoids it.

A less than humble Owen Alvarez misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
In defeat, Greg Fitzgerald stepped up to the mic, saying 'This last loss has definitely got me thinking. I need to make a change. This whole fighting thing was supposed to be short term. But I'm not quitting til I get me hardware. '.
