Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between The Dude (ranked 3824 p4p, 6019 weight class) and Serge Preston (ranked 479 p4p, 621 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Dude! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Serge Preston! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Preston looks for the body kick but Dude saw that one coming. Dude closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Preston has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dude is trying to keep an underhook but Preston manages to get the takedown into half guard. Dude kicks Preston off and gets back to his feet. Dude gets a clinch. Preston has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Dude regains guard immediately. Dude uses the cage to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action! Preston tries to clinch up. Dude is looking to counter punch. Preston slaps away a takedown attempt from Dude, before circling back to the center of the mat. Preston is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dude sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dude fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dude has managed to clinch.
Dude drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Preston gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Dude. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dude jumps guard and drags Preston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Dude has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Preston wants to control from the top but Dude keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dude looking for a sweep. Not yet Dude, not yet. Dude is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Preston is aware though and is defending well. Dude has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Preston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dude is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Preston slaps away a takedown attempt from Dude, before circling back to the center of the mat. Preston tries to counter by closing the distance. Dude throws a head kick but Preston moves out of range.
Preston shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Preston tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Preston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A bone on bone clash there as Preston blocks the leg kick.
Dude shoots in for a takedown but Preston shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. We've been informed that Preston has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Preston thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Preston is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dude sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Preston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Preston looks winded! Dude has his takedown stuffed and Preston counters with a two punch combo. Dude throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Preston tries to clinch up but Dude circles away and keeps his distance. Dude instigates a clinch. Dude manages to pull guard.
Dude pulls Preston in to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
The Dude dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Preston scores with a nice body kick.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Dude here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. No luck with that takedown attempt from Preston. Preston leaves Dude with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Dude shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Preston but Preston pushes him off and we're back to square one. Serge Preston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Preston tries to close the distance and clinch but Dude swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Preston tries to clinch but Dude moves away and Dude counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Preston tries to keep at a distance but Dude has taken the fight into the clinch. Dude is struggling to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dude has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Dude has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Dude tries to break the clinch but Preston is controlling the position. Dude jumps guard and drags Preston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Preston wants to stand and escape but instead Dude has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Dude sitting in guard, not really doing much. Dude gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dude lands with an overhand left. The Dude is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dude shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Preston pinned against the cage. Preston gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Dude. That's going to take a lot out of him. Preston looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dude is fending him off so far but Preston persists. Nope, Dude circles away and we're back to standing. Dude half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. The Dude is winning the standup battle so far. Preston tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dude swivels and escapes. Preston is breathing heavily. No luck for Dude with that takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Preston.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Preston shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dude defends it nicely. Dude gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dude manages to pull guard.
Dude is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Dude controlling the pace. Dude is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Preston can do to turn this around? Dude seems to be working for a kimura but Preston defends the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dude decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Dude moves into the clinch. Preston tries to pull guard but Dude won't allow it.
Dude has Preston pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Preston manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Preston swings wildly with an uppercut but Dude uses good head movement to avoid it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dude wants to break the clinch but can't.
Preston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
The Dude dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Preston shoots in for a takedown but Dude shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Dude shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Preston as he avoids it easily. Dude shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Preston as he jumps to the side. Dude rushes Preston and presses him up against the cage. Preston is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Dude is defending well. Dude is trying to pull guard but Preston has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Dude. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dude tries to break free but Preston pushes him back against the cage. Dude is struggling to control the position. Dude ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dude no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Preston must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dude lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Dude slips nicely into half guard. Dude content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Preston blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dude.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Preston tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Dude has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Preston wants to hold on but Dude pushes him away. Dude sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dude looking to finish with strikes here!
Dude is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Preston has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Dude tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Preston wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dude.
Dude misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Preston tries to control Dude's body but Dude pushes him off. Preston squirms to his side and now Dude has his back! Preston has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Dude. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A bit of a pause in the action here. Dude controlling the positon.
And that's the end of the fight! The Dude showed his dominance in that final round. Well Dude has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
