Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cajetan Shashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gecko Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shashi doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Armstrong counters with a right hand to the body.
Armstrong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Shashi circles away quickly and effectively.
Armstrong throws a right hand that misses
and Shashi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Shashi is working for a submission of some sort.
Armstrong is looking for a sweep. Shashi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shashi content to control rather than advance.
Shashi moves into full mount! Armstrong won't be happy about that!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shashi trying to control but Armstrong is having none of it.
Shashi looking to secure an arm triangle but Armstrong defends it well.
Armstrong tries to improve his position but Shashi has taken his back! Shashi has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Armstrong tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Shashi pushes Armstrong away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cajetan Shashi!
A relieved looking Cajetan Shashi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
