PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kron Gracie (ranked 2461 p4p, 2314 weight class) and Free Waterfall Jr (ranked 324 p4p, 306 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kron Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Free Waterfall Jr!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterfall Jr misses with a head kick.
Waterfall Jr throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gracie.
Gracie catches Waterfall Jr with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Waterfall Jr misses with a body shot.
Gracie scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gracie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Waterfall Jr throws a right hand that misses
and Gracie counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Gracie lands a jab to the nose.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie scores with a shot to the body.

Gracie misses with a looping right.
Waterfall Jr with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gracie to score with a decent uppercut.
Gracie throws a jab when Waterfall Jr was well out of range.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but Waterfall Jr saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Waterfall Jr throws a big counter head kick but Gracie avoids it with no problem.

Waterfall Jr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gracie.
Waterfall Jr paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

A nice inside leg kick there by Waterfall Jr. That's going to slow Gracie down.
Gracie throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Waterfall Jr counters with a good, hard body kick but Gracie shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Waterfall Jr's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gracie passes Waterfall Jr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Gracie controlling the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie is trying to control the action in half guard but Waterfall Jr is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Waterfall Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Waterfall Jr is trying to keep Gracie in close.

Gracie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That was a close round but I would say that Kron Gracie will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Waterfall Jr.

A looping hook to the body misses from Gracie. Waterfall Jr does a little dance to reset his feet.
Free Waterfall Jr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Gracie swings for the body but Waterfall Jr moves out of range.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Waterfall Jr quickly recovers to half guard.
