Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Boban Turnik (ranked 4425 p4p, 4120 weight class) and Dmitri Zaitsev (ranked 500 p4p, 480 weight class). Dmitri Zaitsev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Boban Turnik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 33 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dmitri Zaitsev! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turnik scores with a nice strike. Boban Turnik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Turnik lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Zaitsev backs up against the ropes.
Zaitsev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Turnik, pushing him back against the ropes. Zaitsev misses with a body punch.
Turnik wants to break the clinch but can't.
Zaitsev scores with a hook to the body. Zaitsev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Turnik lands a hook to the side of the head. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Turnik as Zaitsev tries to tie him up. Turnik lands a left hand that snaps the head of Zaitsev backwards. Turnik manages to break the clinch.
Zaitsev takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Zaitsev wants to clinch. Zaitsev tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Turnik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zaitsev moves forwards but Turnik connects with a nice, crisp jab. Turnik is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Turnik fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Turnik keeps the fight on the outside. Turnik paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Turnik gets tackled into the ropes by Zaitsev. Zaitsev maintains the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zaitsev misses with a short punch on the inside. Turnik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Boban Turnik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Turnik uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Zaitsev has time to react. The crowd cheers as Turnik lands an impressive looking overhand right. Zaitsev doesn't seem phased though. Turnik bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Turnik misses with a wild combination.
Turnik with a body punch. A glancing blow. Zaitsev wants to clinch. Turnik is looking to counter punch. Zaitsev clinches up against the ropes. Zaitsev looking to slow down the pace here. Zaitsev tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Zaitsev trying to control the position but instead, Turnik has worked for underhooks and has pushed Zaitsev into the ropes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Turnik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Turnik rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zaitsev moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Zaitsev wants to clinch. Zaitsev on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Zaitsev shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Zaitsev moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Turnik lands a lovely overhand right. Turnik looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Turnik keeps the fight on the outside. Zaitsev tries to clinch and Turnik counters with a straight right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Zaitsev is looking to clinch but Turnik is avoiding it.
Turnik slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Turnik is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Turnik cracks Zaitsev with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Zaitsev is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Zaitsev is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Zaitsev could not beat the count!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Boban Turnik!
