Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Rudy Beckwith (ranked 1031 p4p, 1990 weight class) and Akio Kurosaki (ranked 65 p4p, 116 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rudy Beckwith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akio Kurosaki! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kurosaki looks to land a left hand but Beckwith moved out of range nicely. Kurosaki misses with a hook. Beckwith looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kurosaki looks to throw the jab but Beckwith is out of range. Beckwith tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kurosaki manages to circle out of the way. Kurosaki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Beckwith shoots in for a double leg but Kurosaki sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Kurosaki bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Kurosaki misses with a right hand and Beckwith counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Kurosaki trying to control here.
Beckwith is trying to work for a kimura but Kurosaki is defending well.
Beckwith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kurosaki sees it coming and defends easily. Beckwith wants to take a breather but Kurosaki is having none of it. Kurosaki trying to control from the bottom.

Kurosaki is trying to maintain the position but Beckwith is very close to passing his half guard. Beckwith works his way into side control. Beckwith thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kurosaki wants to control but Beckwith postures up. Kurosaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beckwith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kurosaki felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Kurosaki is trying to improve his position.

Kurosaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kurosaki wants to control from the top but Beckwith keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beckwith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Beckwith is thwarting Kurosaki's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kurosaki tries to lock up and control but Beckwith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rudy Beckwith dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kurosaki, as that shot connected.
Kurosaki thows a left - swing and a miss! Beckwith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kurosaki. Beckwith avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Kurosaki throws a shot from downtown. Beckwith moves away and avoids it. Beckwith darts in looking for a takedown but Kurosaki gets double underhooks and turns Beckwith into the cage. Kurosaki lands with a short head shot on the inside. Kurosaki can't find room to land a body shot as Beckwith controls the action.
Kurosaki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kurosaki is trying to force a seperation but Beckwith has the dominant position. Beckwith tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kurosaki just stands there and leans against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beckwith jumps guard.

Beckwith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kurosaki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Beckwith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Beckwith keeping moving, preventing Kurosaki from controlling successfully. Kurosaki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beckwith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kurosaki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. A big right from Kurosaki misses. Kurosaki misses the jab. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kurosaki has his hands clasped together around Beckwith's back. He's all about the action. Beckwith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Beckwith is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kurosaki! Beckwith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rudy Beckwith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kurosaki wants to control but Beckwith is having none of it. Kurosaki is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Beckwith is staying active.

Kurosaki is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Beckwith off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Kurosaki staying busy and making it hard for Beckwith to control. Beckwith is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kurosaki defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Beckwith is not going to allow Kurosaki to sit and survive in this position. Beckwith has his arm under Kurosaki's chin here. Game over son!
