Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kakashi Hataki (ranked 2863 p4p, 4785 weight class) and Maitland Rask (ranked 287 p4p, 394 weight class). Maitland Rask will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kakashi Hataki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maitland Rask!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hataki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hataki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rask has eaten all the pies!

Hataki closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rask working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hataki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hataki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rask got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hataki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rask has managed to get both his arms back between Hataki's legs - danger averted.

Hataki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rask is aware though and is defending well.

Hataki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rask is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hataki.

Maitland Rask seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rask scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hataki in his tracks.
Rask bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hataki's head.

and Hataki counters with a single leg into guard. Rask didn't expect that.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's time! Hataki's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Hataki moves into the clinch successfully.
Rask swings wildly with an uppercut but Hataki uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rask jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hataki walks away with a smile on his face. Rask gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rask dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Hataki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hataki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Maitland Rask has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rask is rocked!
Hataki cracks Rask with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rask is still in real trouble! Can Hataki finish him?
Hataki looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Rask covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

A relieved looking Kakashi Hataki thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
