Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shusharin but Shusharin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shusharin tries to sprawl but Karelin drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Karelin is working for a submission of some sort.
Shusharin is trying to stand back up but Karelin is controlling him
Shusharin is not content to let Karelin control the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shusharin pushes Karelin off looking to stand but Karelin dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Karelin lands a nice short elbow.
Karelin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Shusharin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shusharin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shusharin tries to kick Karelin off but Karelin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Shusharin is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Shusharin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
We've been hearing good reports from Karelin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Karelin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shusharin is looking to escape.
Karelin won't let Shusharin get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Shusharin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karelin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

You get the feeling that Shusharin really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Karelin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shusharin is surviving well by controlling Karelin's body position as best he can.
