Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Andros (ranked 3499 p4p, 1783 weight class) and Tapio Virtainen (ranked 433 p4p, 250 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Andros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tapio Virtainen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andros fails in his attempt to clinch.
Virtainen lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Andros doesn't manage to clinch there - Virtainen circles away.
Andros wants to clinch.
Virtainen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Andros is looking to clinch but Virtainen is avoiding it.
Virtainen just misses with a punch to the body.

Virtainen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Andros fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Andros moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Virtainen has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Virtainen is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Andros had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

and Virtainen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Virtainen throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Andros.
Andros tries to clinch but Virtainen is having none of it.
Nick Andros seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Andros pushes Virtainen up against the cage in a clinch.

Andros pushes off an throws an elbow but Virtainen leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Andros is fighting off a takedown attempt but Virtainen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Andros to the mat. Andros regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Virtainen wants to control from the top but Andros keeps moving.

Andros has his foot on Virtainen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Virtainen works his way back into a safe position though.
Virtainen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Virtainen stands up over Andros, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Virtainen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Virtainen is in close to Andros's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Andros is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Andros escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Virtainen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Virtainen advances to half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Virtainen lands a nice short elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Virtainen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Andros doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Virtainen.

Virtainen is trying to work for a kimura but Andros is defending well.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tapio Virtainen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Virtainen looks up at the clock and then as Andros takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Virtainen smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Virtainen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Andros knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Virtainen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Andros to see if he's OK.
Virtainen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Andros down.

Virtainen lands a strong strike to the head of Andros. That's dazed him! Virtainen looking to finish here. Andros is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Virtainen lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tapio Virtainen!
