Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shape Shifter (ranked 1706 p4p, 2034 weight class) and Gunnar Kimura (ranked 227 p4p, 262 weight class). Shape Shifter has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Shape Shifter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Shifter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kimura won't be happy with that.

Kimura lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Kimura tries to land knees in the clinch but Shifter avoids the damage to the body.

Shifter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shifter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Shifter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kimura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kimura manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kimura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shifter manages to avoid it.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Kimura manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Shifter jumps guard.

Kimura decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kimura throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shifter attempts a counter takedown but Kimura avoids it well and moves away.
Shifter moves out of range of the strikes.
Gunnar Kimura is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shifter on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kimura misses with a kick to the body

and Shifter counters with a shoot takedown. Kimura fights it but they end up in guard.

Shifter stops Kimura from standing up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kimura can't keep his opponent in guard - Shifter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kimura pushes Shifter off looking to stand but Shifter dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shifter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kimura is just riding it out for now. Shifter eventually gives up the hold.

Kimura pushes Shifter off and gets back to his feet.
Kimura dips to his left and cracks Shifter with an uppercut!
Kimura has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kimura throws a sloppy head kick and Shifter moves out of range easily.

Kimura cracks Shifter with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Shifter looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kimura finish him?

Shifter is rocked!
Shifter misses with a takedown attempt
and Kimura rattles Shifter with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Shifter tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Kimura dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Shifter stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gunnar Kimura!
Gunnar Kimura was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
