PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brownie Anderson (ranked 2879 p4p, 3017 weight class) and Hick Diaz (ranked 367 p4p, 385 weight class). Hick Diaz is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brownie Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt
and Anderson counters with a nice uppercut.
Anderson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Anderson sprawls well. Anderson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet.
Brownie Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hick Diaz.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Diaz shoots for a double leg takedown but Anderson sprawls well. He's pushed Diaz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Diaz gets the takedown into side control.
Diaz wants to control but Anderson is keeping him busy.
Anderson is pushing Diaz's head away, looking to escape. Diaz manages to hold on to the position though.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Anderson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Anderson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Diaz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Anderson, who protects the arm well.
Anderson is looking to get back to his feet here but Diaz is keeping cool and he's managed to take Anderson's back.
Anderson is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Anderson breaks Diaz's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Anderson won't allow Diaz to sweep him here.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted.
Anderson tries to stand but Diaz is controlling from the bottom.
Diaz wants to stand and escape but Anderson is having none of it.

Anderson stands and steps away. Diaz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Anderson counters with a stiff right hand.
Anderson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Anderson to the mat! Anderson manages to get full guard.
Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Anderson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Diaz has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Anderson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Diaz fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Anderson throws a good cross that connects.
Anderson cracks Diaz with an open hand slap.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Diaz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Anderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Diaz is standing up over Anderson. Anderson looks to escape but Diaz dives into side control.
Diaz trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Diaz tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Anderson pushes Diaz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Diaz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Anderson tries to bench press Diaz off him but Diaz keeps the position.

Diaz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Diaz has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Anderson!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brownie Anderson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Anderson throws a one two combo.
Diaz shoots in but Anderson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Diaz shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Anderson as he avoids it easily.
Brownie Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hick Diaz.
Anderson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Diaz is rocked!
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but Anderson shows good takedown defense.
Anderson steps in with a hook that catches Diaz right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Anderson follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Diaz looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brownie Anderson!
An out of breath Brownie Anderson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
