Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Larry Wussel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyle Gill!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wussel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gill closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wussel quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gill is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gill takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Gill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gill is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Wussel has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Wussel!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gill keeping moving, preventing Wussel from controlling successfully.
Wussel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wussel content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gill has locked up a guillotine! Gill's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wussel is holding on here and Gill must be using up a lot of energy. Wussel has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gill gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
