PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edward Morris (ranked 5716 p4p, 5569 weight class) and Montel Porter (ranked 535 p4p, 529 weight class). Montel Porter struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Montel Porter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris misses with a looping right.
Morris punishes Porter's body with a nice straight punch.
The fighters circling - Morris throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Morris lands a body shot.
Morris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Porter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Morris misses with a few strikes there.
Porter looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Morris connects with a body shot.
Morris listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Morris thows a left - swing and a miss!
Morris throws a jab when Porter was well out of range.

Morris clinches.
Morris lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Come on Morris - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Morris misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Morris displaying some good clinch control by pressing Porter up against the cage.

Porter breaks the clinch.
Morris throws a hook but Porter avoids it easily.
Morris scores with the left hand. Porter knows he should have avoided that one.
Porter with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Morris to score with a decent uppercut.
Porter gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Porter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Porter showed some decent athleticism there.
Morris is trying to stand back up but Porter is controlling him

Porter gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Porter swats away the attempt to clinch by Morris.
Morris throws out a powerful jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Morris swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Porter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Morris wants to clinch up but Porter keeps it at a distance.

Morris moves into the clinch successfully.
Morris avoiding damage as Porter throws knees to the body.
Morris digs a right hand into Porter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Porter's gas tank.
Porter looks winded!
Morris pushes Porter back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Morris creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Morris digs a right hand underneath Porter's ribcage. Porter let out a lung full of air as it connected.

A right hand to the body from Morris.
Morris lands with a short shot to the head.
The referee calls for Morris to work.
Morris lands a right hand that snaps the head of Porter backwards.
Morris avoiding damage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Morris takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Porter is trying to pull guard but Morris turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Morris pushes Porter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A bit of stalling here from Morris.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Morris.
Morris lands with a light punch inside.
Morris digs a right hand underneath Porter's ribcage. Porter let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Morris lands a nice shot to the body.

Morris manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Morris looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Edward Morris.
Porter shoots in for a takedown but Morris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Morris digs a good body shot into Porter's ribs.
Porter takes a shot to the body in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Morris connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Porter gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Morris gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edward Morris!
