The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakarow shoots and misses
and Petrov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bakarow uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Petrov.
Petrov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bakarow swings widly with a right hand
and Petrov counters with a nice uppercut.
Bakarow slips under a jab from Petrov.
We've been told by Petrov's head coaches at Alpha Brasil that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Petrov tries to keep at a distance but Bakarow has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bakarow manages to break the clinch.
Petrov swings widly with a right hand

and Bakarow counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Petrov!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bakarow remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Bakarow swings around for an armbar but Petrov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bakarow's guard.
Petrov tries to free his leg and advance position but Bakarow is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bakarow keeping moving, preventing Petrov from controlling successfully.
Bakarow seems keen to control Petrov's posture.

Bakarow is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bakarow is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Petrov prevents a body shot from Bakarow.

Bakarow has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Petrov regains guard immediately.
Bakarow must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Petrov is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bakarow frees his head nicely. Oh but Petrov has switched to an armbar! Bakarow is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
