Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Remi Chavaski (ranked 495 p4p, 355 weight class) and Punchy Cartwright (ranked 75 p4p, 50 weight class). Cartwright has chosen A Pound of Flesh as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Remi Chavaski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Punchy Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavaski on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Cartwright. Cartwright obviously looking to wear him down.
Good standup being displayed there by Cartwright as he connects with a hook.
Cartwright lands the left hand.
Chavaski takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Chavaski goes for a double leg but Cartwright avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cartwright continues to drive forward.
Cartwright tries to break free but Chavaski pushes him back against the cage.
Chavaski can't get the takedown.
We've been hearing reports that Chavaski has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Cartwright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cartwright misses with a hook.
Cartwright lands with a right hand.
Cartwright clobbers Chavaski with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Cartwright tries a low kick but Chavaski avoids it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chavaski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Chavaski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cartwright looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cartwright regains half guard there - taking advantage of Chavaski's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Cartwright keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Chavaski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cartwright is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chavaski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartwright swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cartwright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Chavaski drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cartwright looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cartwright looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cartwright!

Punchy Cartwright is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chavaski blocks a head kick by Cartwright.
Cartwright will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Chavaski shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Oooooh!!! Cartwright has knocked Chavaski down with a huge combo! Cartwright steps away and waves a wobbly Chavaski back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chavaski goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cartwright has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Chavaski but great work by Cartwright.
Punchy Cartwright has got the better of the ground game so far.
Chavaski gets back to half guard.

Cartwright stands up and beckons Chavaski to join him on the feet.
Chavaski avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Chavaski attempts a counter takedown but Cartwright avoids it well and moves away.
Cartwright misses with an uppercut. Chavaski saw that one coming.
Chavaski appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Chavaski's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cartwright connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Chavaski scrambles back to his feet.

Punchy Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chavaski swings around for an armbar but Cartwright sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chavaski's guard.
Chavaski is trying to hold Cartwright in close to prevent damage but Cartwright has managed to pass into half guard.

Chavaski wants to get back to full guard.

Chavaski tries to get to full guard but Cartwright has control of the leg.
Punchy Cartwright is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Cartwright wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Chavaski uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Punchy Cartwright comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cartwright has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
