Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Goran Jovanic (ranked 2500 p4p, 3123 weight class) and Jeremias Furtwangler (ranked 311 p4p, 402 weight class). Jeremias Furtwangler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Goran Jovanic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeremias Furtwangler! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Furtwangler throws a one two combo.
It looks like Goran Jovanic has been cut. Jovanic closes this distance looking for a takedown but Furtwangler circles away. Jovanic has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Jovanic shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Furtwangler pinned against the cage. Furtwangler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jovanic changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Furtwangler tries to avoid it but Jovanic manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Furtwangler to the ground. Furtwangler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Goran Jovanic. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jovanic looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Furtwangler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Furtwangler misses with the combination.
Jovanic has a takedown stuffed. Furtwangler fails to land with a series of punches.
Sloppy strikes from Furtwangler. Those never looked like landing. Jovanic appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Furtwangler cracks Jovanic with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jovanic looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Furtwangler finish him?
Jovanic is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Furtwangler leaves Jovanic with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jovanic is breathing heavily. Jovanic avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jovanic fails to land the takedown. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Furtwangler lands a left and a right that send Jovanic crashing to the mat, dazed. Furtwangler thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Oh Jovanic is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jovanic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Furtwangler as he avoids it easily. Jovanic shoots in and drives through. Furtwangler sprawls well. Jovanic seems to have got his legs back now. Jovanic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Furtwangler lands with a big right hook that stumbles Jovanic - he's out on his feet here! Furtwangler follows up with another monster hook that separates Jovanic from consciousness! Jovanic falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Furtwangler stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jeremias Furtwangler!
