Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andres Bonifacio (ranked 4486 p4p, 4952 weight class) and Amakusa Saneuji (ranked 230 p4p, 245 weight class). Bonifacio comes to the ring accompanied by Don't Stop Me Now- Queen. Saneuji has chosen Zen Spirit as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andres Bonifacio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Amakusa Saneuji!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saneuji feints and as Bonifacio raises his hands in defense, Saneuji changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Saneuji postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Saneuji stops Bonifacio from standing up.
Saneuji landing some decent shots from guard.
Saneuji is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bonifacio wants to get back to his feet but Saneuji is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Saneuji tries to free his leg and advance position but Bonifacio is retaining full guard.

Saneuji drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Saneuji jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Saneuji has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saneuji postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bonifacio is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Saneuji, into his guard.


Saneuji has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bonifacio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Saneuji is looking for a triangle but Bonifacio pushes his legs off easily.

Bonifacio wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Saneuji's closed guard. He's half up but Saneuji has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Saneuji pivots and extends the arm, Bonifacio falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Saneuji! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Amakusa Saneuji!
