PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malgud Khavedalov (ranked 4629 p4p, 4666 weight class) and Adasdas Asdas (ranked 519 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malgud Khavedalov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Adasdas Asdas!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khavedalov wants to clinch.

Khavedalov moves into the clinch.
Asdas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Asdas breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Asdas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Khavedalov to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Asdas is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Asdas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Khavedalov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Asdas is looking for a triangle but Khavedalov pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khavedalov trying to control the position from guard on top but Asdas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Asdas looking for a sweep. Not yet Asdas, not yet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khavedalov is pushing down on Asdas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Asdas is fighting to maintain full guard but Khavedalov has managed to sneak the leg through.
Khavedalov wants to stand up but Asdas is controlling the position.
Asdas is trying to get back to full guard.
Asdas is controlling Khavedalov's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Asdas is trying to control but can't.
Asdas is pressing down on Khavedalov's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Khavedalov with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Khavedalov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Asdas.

Khavedalov instigates a clinch.
Asdas wants to get back to striking at distance but Khavedalov won't allow it.
Khavedalov goes for a takedown in the clinch but Asdas prevents it.

Khavedalov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The fight stays on the outside here - Asdas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Khavedalov gets the takedown into side control.

Khavedalov decides to stand up, so the ref orders Asdas to his feet.
Khavedalov tries to clinch up but Asdas circles away and keeps his distance.
Khavedalov misses with a head kick.

Asdas moves into range and clinches up with Khavedalov.

Khavedalov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Khavedalov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Khavedalov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Asdas looks winded!

Khavedalov gets to his feet - Asdas follows without any prompting.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Malgud Khavedalov dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Khavedalov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Asdas!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Asdas is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Khavedalov throwing damaging strikes from the back! Asdas could be in trouble here!
Khavedalov is trying to stick to Asdas's back but Asdas is turning into Khavedalov. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Khavedalov's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Asdas.

Khavedalov wants to sweep here but Asdas controlling him for the moment.

Asdas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Malgud Khavedalov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Asdas drops back looking for a leg! Khavedalov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Khavedalov manages to kick Asdas off! Asdas jumps back into Khavedalov's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Asdas fails with the takedown.
Asdas is breathing heavily.
Asdas is looking to clinch.

Khavedalov shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ground and pound from Khavedalov.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Malgud Khavedalov dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Khavedalov throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Nice takedown defense from Khavedalov. No joy for Asdas on that attempt.
Malgud Khavedalov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Khavedalov throws a wild body kick that Asdas sees coming a mile off.
Asdas fails with an attempt to clinch.

Khavedalov bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Asdas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Asdas is still trying to improve position.

Khavedalov is staying tight to Asdas's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Khavedalov tries to move to mount but Asdas blocks the move with his legs.

Khavedalov decides to stand back up. Khavedalov steps back and let's Asdas get back to his feet.
Khavedalov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Khavedalov is looking to clinch but Asdas is avoiding it.
A countering left hand to the body from Asdas misses.

Asdas gets caught flat footed, as Khavedalov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Asdas has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Khavedalov has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Asdas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Asdas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Asdas decides to pull guard.

Khavedalov stays in close to Asdas's body and controls the position.

Khavedalov stands up and waves to Asdas to follow him.
Asdas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Asdas fails with a takedown attempt.
Malgud Khavedalov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adasdas Asdas.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Khavedalov manages to break the clinch.
Asdas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khavedalov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Asdas somewhat.

Khavedalov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Asdas's half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Khavedalov connects with a nice short shot to Asdas's temple.
Khavedalov is taking a breather. Asdas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Khavedalov escapes and gets back to his feet.

Khavedalov closes the distance and pushes Asdas back into the cage.

Khavedalov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Khavedalov misses with a head kick.

Khavedalov looking to score a takedown here. Asdas is defending well but Khavedalov drives through and ends up in Asdas's guard.
Khavedalov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Asdas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Khavedalov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Khavedalov is stalling in the full guard.
Khavedalov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Asdas can do to turn this around?

Asdas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Khavedalov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Khavedalov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that's the end of the fight!
Malgud Khavedalov showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Khavedalov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
