Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitar Mrkela!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mrkela darts in looking for a takedown but Durant gets double underhooks and turns Mrkela into the cage.
Mrkela gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Durant makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mrkela with a poor takedown
and Durant counters with a slapping leg kick.
Kevin Durant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitar Mrkela.
Mrkela misses with a takedown
enabling Durant to counter with a crisp jab.
Mrkela doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Durant makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Durant lands a big head kick that sends Mrkela tumbling to the mat! Durant takes a step backwards and waves Mrkela back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mrkela is rocked!
It looks like Mitar Mrkela has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mrkela wants to stay close but Durant steps back to make room for something. Mrkela seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Durant and Mrkela drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kevin Durant!
A relieved looking Kevin Durant thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
