Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shimon Peres (ranked 3366 p4p, 2421 weight class) and Akil Paschal (ranked 125 p4p, 91 weight class). Akil Paschal is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shimon Peres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Akil Paschal!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peres scores with a one two! Paschal had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Peres has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Elite Island Gym in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd cheers as Peres lands an impressive looking overhand right. Paschal doesn't seem phased though.

Paschal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Paschal's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Peres looking for a guillotine here but Paschal defends easily.
Peres utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Paschal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Peres is trying to control the position but Paschal postures up.
Paschal passes into half guard.
Paschal wants to free his trapped foot but Peres is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Paschal is controlling the pace.

Paschal is trying to work for a kimura but Peres is defending well.
Peres is looking to get back to full guard here but Paschal has managed to pass to side control instead.

Paschal is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Peres knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Paschal is looking to take a break and control but Peres is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
An elbow from Paschal crashes against the mat.
Peres is looking to reverse the position.
Peres wants to control but Paschal postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peres is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paschal looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Peres is avoiding damage well.
Paschal lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Peres down.

Paschal wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Peres, who protects the arm well.
Peres is not content to let Paschal control the position.

Peres wants to control but Paschal postures up.

Paschal is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Peres knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Peres is not content to let Paschal control the position.
Paschal tries to advance to mount but Peres denies him.

Paschal thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Peres is looking for a sweep.
Paschal postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Peres parries the strikes from Paschal easily there. Paschal is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Peres to escape.
Peres trying to remain calm as Paschal controls from the top position.
Peres gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Paschal is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peres is just riding it out for now. Paschal eventually gives up the hold.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Peres is looking to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Akil Paschal dominated that round.

Paschal manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Peres on his heels. He'll look to pass Peres's guard now, I'm sure.
Paschal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Paschal throws a big elbow that misses.
Paschal stands and throws Peres's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Paschal wants to control but Peres is keeping him busy.
Peres struggling a bit here.

Peres is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Paschal's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Paschal! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Peres has tapped! This one is allllll over!
