The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rodriguez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Harper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rodriguez's waist but Rodriguez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harper off to one side.

and Harper counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rodriguez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harper on the ground.
Harper is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Harper swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rodriguez is now in Harper's guard. A big mistake from Harper there, giving up the dominant position!

and Harper counters with a three punch combo that has Rodriguez backing up. Rodriguez nods at Harper to acknowledge the strikes.

Rodriguez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rodriguez showed some decent athleticism there.
Rodriguez has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Harper works to full guard.

Rodriguez wants to stand but Harper has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rodriguez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harper throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rodriguez escapes and throws Harper's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Harper uses his free foot to push down on Rodriguez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rodriguez.

You get the feeling that Rodriguez really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Harper quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Harper but it's paid off an Rodriguez is forced to tap! Nice work by Harper.
