PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Homer Simpson (ranked 4570 p4p, 4565 weight class) and Frank Frankson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Frankson!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simpson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Simpson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Frankson.

Simpson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Frankson regains guard.
Frankson wants to get back to his feet but Simpson passes into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frankson is controlling Simpson's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Simpson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Frankson manages to circle out of the way.

Simpson stands up and waves to Frankson to follow him.

Simpson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Frankson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Simpson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Homer Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Frankson.

Simpson pulls Frankson into guard.
Frankson is looking to stand up but Simpson won't let him.

Simpson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Frankson manages to get himself to full guard.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Frankson tries to clinch up but Simpson circles away and keeps his distance.

Simpson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Simpson tries to pass to full mount but Frankson defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Simpson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Frankson has escaped the position, nice work there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simpson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Frankson can do to turn this around?

Simpson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Simpson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Frankson's face.

Simpson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Simpson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Simpson lands a heavy elbow.
Simpson controlling his opponent.
Frankson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simpson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Simpson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Simpson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Frankson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Simpson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Frankson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Homer Simpson dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Simpson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Frankson circles away.
Simpson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Frankson tries to avoid it but Simpson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Frankson to the ground. Frankson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Frankson looks to land a body kick but Simpson moved away.

Simpson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Frankson's half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Simpson lands a nice short elbow.

Simpson stands up and beckons Frankson to his feet.
Frankson goes for a double leg but Simpson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Simpson continues to drive forward.

Frankson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Frankson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Simpson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Frankson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Homer Simpson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Simpson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Simpson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simpson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Frankson!

Frankson wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Simpson patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Simpson is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Simpson gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Simpson gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Simpson apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Simpson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Simpson showed some decent athleticism there.

Simpson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Frankson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Frank Frankson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Homer Simpson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Homer Simpson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Simpson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Homer Simpson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Simpson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
