Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Pawlik (ranked 1 p4p, 23 weight class) and Joad Cressbeckler (ranked 1 p4p, 4 weight class). Pawlik's entrance music is John Butler - Ocean . A fine choice. Cressbeckler has chosen American Remains as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Pawlik!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joad Cressbeckler!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cressbeckler misses with a body kick.
Pawlik throws a lazy right hand but Cressbeckler sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cressbeckler tries a head kick but it misses.
Cressbeckler turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Pawlik shoots in for a double leg but Cressbeckler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

so Pawlik counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pawlik throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cressbeckler works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pawlik in particular looking to stall.
Pawlik looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cressbeckler with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Dick Pawlik will probably get the nod.

Cressbeckler does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

After the fight, Joad Cressbeckler was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
