Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zalt Gaanja (ranked 1242 p4p, 1669 weight class) and Ilya Kushnirov (ranked 188 p4p, 236 weight class). Gaanja comes to the cage accompanied by Nathan Evans - Wellerman. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilya Kushnirov!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kushnirov loads up on a big right hand but Gaanja slips the punch.
Gaanja wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kushnirov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kushnirov throws a low kick, looking for Gaanja's leg but Gaanja calmly moves out of range.
Kushnirov pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gaanja is looking to counter punch.
Kushnirov tries a head kick but it misses.
Kushnirov throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kushnirov throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gaanja.

Gaanja throws a lazy right hand but Kushnirov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kushnirov looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Gaanja lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gaanja throws a hook but Kushnirov avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gaanja. Kushnirov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kushnirov slips a straight right by Gaanja.
Gaanja has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Doom's Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Kushnirov turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Nice jab there from Gaanja.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kushnirov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Gaanja attempts a counter takedown but Kushnirov avoids it well and moves away.
Gaanja takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kushnirov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gaanja connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kushnirov scrambles back to his feet.

Kushnirov is not content to let Gaanja control the position.

Kushnirov takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

A big strike lands for Gaanja! That's really hurt Kushnirov and he's turned his back - Gaanja keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Gaanja jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
