This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Leon Jones! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Donell Martin! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Jones shoots for a takedown but Martin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Martin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Jones (0) vs (4) Martin A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Martin working away. Martin is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jones can't do much from the bottom here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martin trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Jones trying his best to control but Martin has mounted him. Score +2 for reaching mount: Jones (0) vs (6) Martin
That's one minute gone in the round. Martin fails to advance to Jones's back. Jones wants to control but Martin is having none of it. Jones is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Martin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Martin controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Martin avoids the attempt from Jones to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones manages to regain half guard. Good work. Martin trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Martin performing his best blanket impression for a moment. It looks like Martin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Martin tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking for a sweep. Martin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jones wants to control but Martin is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jones is looking to improve his position.
Martin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Martin is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer. Martin is working for a kimura but Jones is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Martin preventing the sweep. Martin pushing down on Jones's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Martin wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position. That's six minutes gone in the round. Jones tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Martin is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jones laying and praying for a moment but Martin takes advantage and regains half guard.

Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Martin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Jones is trying for a kimura here. Martin looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Jones wins by kimura!
