PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Qing Wu (ranked 1670 p4p, 2940 weight class) and Adu Akin (ranked 245 p4p, 374 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Qing Wu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adu Akin!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wu just misses with a punch to the body.
Wu throws an overhand right that lands on Akin's shoulder, as Akin tries to avoid the shot.
Akin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

It looks like Adu Akin has been cut.
Akin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Akin moves out of range of the strikes.
Akin throws a shot from downtown. Wu moves away and avoids it.
Akin misses with an uppercut. Wu saw that one coming.
Wu definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Akin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Wu throws a big shot that misses.
Akin takes one to the chin there.
Wu throws a looping overhand right but Akin ducks down to avoid it.
Akin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wu.
Akin throws the left hand but Wu avoids the punch easily.
Wu misses with an uppercut. Akin saw that one coming.
Wu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akin.
Wu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Wu throws a looping overhand right but Akin ducks down to avoid it.
Akin throws a big shot that misses.
Wu scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Qing Wu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wu scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Wu takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wu is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Akin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wu takes a swing at Akin's ribcage but misses.
Akin let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akin misses with a looping right.
Akin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Qing Wu has been cut.
Wu takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Akin swings for the body but Wu moves out of range.
Akin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Akin is rocked!
Akin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Akin moves out of range of the strikes.
Wu looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Akin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Akin ducks straight into an uppercut from Wu and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Akin manages to regain guard straight away.
Akin is still in real trouble! Can Wu finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wu postures up in Akin's guard and throws a big left but Akin blocks it.
Wu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wu sitting in guard here, content to control.
Akin seems to have recovered his senses.
Wu tries to free his leg and advance position but Akin is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Akin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wu throws a big right hand that misses.
Wu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wu controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wu working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Wu stays in close to Akin's body and controls the position.
Wu continues to stall.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Wu scores with the left hand. Akin knows he should have avoided that one.
Akin is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wu throws a body shot but no joy.
Akin misses with a straight left.
Wu ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Akin lands with a straight right. Wu didn't see that one coming.
Wu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Akin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wu misses with a two punch combination.
Akin swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nice body punch from Wu.
Akin looks winded!
Wu stuns Akin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Akin throws a body punch but Wu moves out of range.
Akin walks into a stiff left hand from Wu.
Wu lands with a right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wu takes the fight into the clinch.

Wu jumps guard.
Wu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Akin's guard.

Wu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Wu with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wu passes Akin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wu throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wu tries to pass to full mount but Akin defends it.
Wu not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wu keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Wu passes to full mount!
Wu punching from mount but Akin doing a good job of avoiding damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Qing Wu dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Wu lands with a straight right. Akin didn't see that one coming.
Wu steps in with a hook that catches Akin right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Wu follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Akin looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Qing Wu!
Our winner, Qing Wu, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
