The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Lemieux misses.
Darwin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Lemieux's hands.

Darwin throws a hook but Lemieux avoids it easily.
Lemieux tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Darwin manages to circle out of the way.

Lemieux lands a big right hand that sends Darwin crashing to the mat! Lemieux stays standing though and waves Darwin back to his feet!

Darwin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Darwin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lemieux.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lemieux walks into a stiff left hand from Darwin.
Darwin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lemieux on the side of the head.
Darwin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lemieux had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Lemieux cracks Darwin with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Darwin looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Lemieux finish him?
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
