PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Will Hung (ranked 2058 p4p, 2423 weight class) and George Walker (ranked 235 p4p, 278 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Will Hung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, George Walker!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker throws a poor cross that misses

and Hung counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Walker!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Walker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hung wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hung wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hung is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Walker is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Walker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hung tries to move into full mount but can't pass Walker's legs.
Hung wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walker keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hung controls the position from side control.
Hung trying to control the action but Walker is working from the bottom.

Hung tries for a kimura but Walker is defending well.
Walker gets back to half guard.

Hung is working for a kimura but Walker is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are battling for position here. Walker manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Hung has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Hung postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Walker is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hung, into his guard.

Hung is looking to sweep but instead, Walker has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walker is looking for a kimura but Hung is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Walker to get the leverage.
Hung tries to roll over but Walker keeps him under control.
Walker stalling.
Hung is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Walker in particular looking to stall.
Walker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hung does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Walker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hung tries to get to full guard but Walker has control of the leg.

Walker looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hung is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Walker is working for a kimura but Hung is defending it quite comfortably.
Walker wants to pass to mount but Hung is defending the position.
Hung on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hung tries to get out of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hung wants to control but Walker is keeping busy.
Hung tries to roll over but Walker keeps him under control.
Walker looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hung regains full guard. Nicely done.
Walker is pushing down on Hung's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hung is fighting to maintain full guard but Walker has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hung is trying to control but can't.
Hung moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker won't allow Hung to sweep him here.
Walker sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Hung escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but George Walker will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hung's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hung.
Walker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Hung closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Walker's guard.
Hung trying to control the position from guard on top but Walker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hung stands and throws Walker's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Walker is looking for a sweep.

Hung thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Walker prevents Hung from moving into mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker gets back to half guard.
Hung is looking to take a break and control but Walker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hung seems to be working for a kimura but Walker defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walker has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hung. Oh but Walker has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hung goes limp - he's gone! Walker jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). George Walker!
A less than humble George Walker misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
In defeat, Will Hung stepped up to the mic, saying 'Don't talk to me. Don't tell me yahw nehayym.'.
