PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Hearst (ranked 4615 p4p, 4040 weight class) and Fixen Braus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fixen Braus is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hunter Hearst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fixen Braus!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braus tries to clinch there but Hearst circles away.

Hearst closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hearst lands in his opponent's guard.
Braus is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Braus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hearst. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Braus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hearst is one step ahead there.
Hearst lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Braus throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hearst is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hearst has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hearst is standing up over Braus. Braus looks to escape but Hearst dives into side control.
Hearst lands a few punches from side control.

Hearst is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Braus knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Braus is trying to get back to half guard.

Hearst connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Braus some visible discomfort.

Hearst wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Braus, who protects the arm well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Braus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hearst taking a breather here.
Braus is looking to regain half guard here but Hearst keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Braus is trying to escape the position but Hearst is controlling the position.
Hearst advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hearst wants to stand but Braus is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Hearst controlling from the full mount.
Braus in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Hearst tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Hearst breaks from Braus's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Hearst controlling the pace for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Braus tries to improve his position but instead Hearst has taken his back!
Braus is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hearst takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Braus moves in looking to clinch but Hearst pushes him off.
Hearst stuffs the takedown attempt from Braus. Braus gets slowly back to his feet.
Hearst misses with a double jab.
Braus listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Braus is looking to clinch.
Braus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Braus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hearst manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hearst is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Braus can do to turn this around?
Hearst throws a right hand that misses
and Braus counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Braus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hearst as he avoids it easily.
Braus tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hearst swivels and escapes.
Hunter Hearst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fixen Braus.
Hearst misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Braus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hearst is fending him off so far but Braus persists. Nope, Hearst circles away and we're back to standing.
A right-left combo lands from Braus.

Hearst shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Braus manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hearst might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Braus is breathing heavily.
Hearst works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hearst prevents Braus from standing back up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Hearst is working for a kimura but Braus is defending it quite comfortably.
Hearst keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Braus tries to get to full guard but Hearst has control of the leg.

Hearst is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Braus tries to roll over but Hearst keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Braus trying to hold on to Hearst's head to control him but Hearst postures up.
Hearst takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hearst is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hearst looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Braus fails with the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hearst darts in and clinches Braus up against the cage.
Hearst's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Braus ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Braus no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Braus is looking to stand up but Hearst isn't so interested in that idea.
Hearst controlling from the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Hearst feints and as Braus raises his hands in defense, Hearst changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Braus is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Braus wants to sweep but no luck.
Hearst wants to stand but Braus has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hearst drops back looking for a leg! Braus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Braus manages to kick Hearst off! Hearst jumps back into Braus's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hearst trying to control but Braus is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hearst controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hearst avoids the head kick by Braus.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hearst.
Hearst working the body and head with strikes.
Hearst controls the position.
Braus wants to get back to his feet but Hearst is dominant here and he's now got Braus's back!
Hearst cracks Braus with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Braus from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Hearst has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

I really don't envy Braus right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Braus turns into Hearst and is now in his guard.

Braus stands and steps away. Hearst gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Braus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Braus tries for a takedown but Hearst sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hearst shoots in and gets a takedown into Braus's guard.
Hearst is stalling in the full guard.
Hearst sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Braus's guard.

Hearst decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Braus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hearst looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Braus!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Braus tries to buck Hearst off but Hearst is having none of it.
Hearst slows the pace down.
Fixen Braus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hunter Hearst is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Braus tries to improve position but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter Hearst showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hearst, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
