Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jolly Roger (ranked 3523 p4p, 21684 weight class) and Watchman Nee (ranked 439 p4p, 686 weight class). Roger's entrance music is Under Jolly Roger. A fine choice. Jolly Roger could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Watchman Nee's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jolly Roger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Watchman Nee!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roger gets a takedown into half guard.

Nee has one foot on Roger's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

enabling Nee to counter with a crisp jab.
Roger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nee manages to avoid it.

Nee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roger was covering up waiting for the punch and Nee finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nee working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Roger is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Punch Out Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Roger has Nee pulled in close to control his posture.
Nee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Roger's guard.
Roger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nee sitting in guard here, content to control.
Nee's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Nee lands a couple of elbows.

Roger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nee defends it easily.
Nee wants to control from the top but Roger keeps moving.
Nee is stalling in the full guard.
Roger looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Roger trying to keep a closed guard but Nee is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nee looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
It looks like Nee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Roger stuffs the takedown.
Nee fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Roger swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Roger misses with a double jab
and Nee counters with a series of strikes. Roger will be more careful next time no doubt.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Nee scores with a head kick. Roger tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jolly Roger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roger looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Roger gets caught flat footed, as Nee shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Roger is controlling Nee's posture.
Roger wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Nee is now in half guard.

Roger looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Nee pushes past his half guard into mount!
Nee controlling his opponent.
Roger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nee tries to control but Roger wriggling away.
Nee misses with a head shot.
Roger tries to reverse the position but Nee maintains control.
Roger wants to hold on but Nee pushes him away.

Roger is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nee thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Roger wants to control but Nee is having none of it.
Roger is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nee is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Nee controlling the pace for now.
Roger holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nee tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Nee gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Nee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Roger pinned against the cage. Roger gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Watchman Nee dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nee lands in his opponent's guard.
Roger is striking from the bottom but Nee uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Nee is looking to advance position but Roger won't allow it.
Nee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Roger does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nee prevents Roger from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roger is working hard here to advance position.
Roger gets full guard.
Roger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nee manages to get himself to full guard.

Nee is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Roger tries to free his leg and advance position but Nee is retaining full guard.
Roger throws a big elbow that misses.
Roger throws a strike but Nee rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Roger has his foot on Nee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nee works his way back into a safe position though.
Nee trying to control but Roger is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Nee stands up and waves to Roger to follow him.
Roger fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nee avoids it really well and circles away.
Roger darts in looking for a takedown but Nee gets double underhooks and turns Roger into the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nee jumps into guard, dragging Roger to the mat.
Roger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Roger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Roger postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Roger works over Nee with some ground and pound from guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Nee manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Nee jumps into guard, dragging Roger to the mat.

Nee lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Nee is looking to work some ground and pound but Roger has wrist control.

Nee trying to control the position from guard on top but Roger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nee gets to his feet - Roger follows without any prompting.
Roger throws a big shot that misses.
Roger lands a slapping body shot.
Roger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nee was well out of range. Poor timing from Roger.
Roger avoids the head kick by Nee.
Roger misses with a looping left.
Nee is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Roger with a body shot.
Nice defenses there by Nee.
Nee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Roger stuns Nee with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nee takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Watchman Nee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Roger sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Watchman Nee seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Roger fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nee on the side of the head.
Nee shoots in looking for a takedown. Roger tries to sprawl out of it but Nee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Roger manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jolly Roger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Watchman Nee.
Nee is breathing heavily.
Nee ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Roger lands a nice shot that snaps Nee's head back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Roger keeps the fight on the outside.
Roger throws a combination. Nee tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Nee shoots for a double leg takedown but Roger sprawls well. He's pushed Nee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Roger just misses with a punch to the body.
Nee ducks under a wild hook from Roger.
Roger shoots in looking for a takedown but Nee manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Roger's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Roger throws a hook but Nee blocks it.
A telegraphed right hand from Roger misses the target.
Nee steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Roger.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jolly Roger will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Roger has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nee is working away from the top position though.

Well, if Nee is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Roger wants to control but Nee is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Roger wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Nee drives through with a takedown into guard.
Roger wants to sweep here but Nee controlling him for the moment.
Nee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Roger is keeping the position for now.

Nee wants to control from the top but Roger keeps moving.
Roger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nee is one step ahead there.
Roger trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Roger misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Nee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Nee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Roger is looking for a sweep. Nee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roger is pressing down on Nee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Roger wants to sweep here but Nee controlling him for the moment.

Nee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nee is thwarting Roger's attempts to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Watchman Nee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
