PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Soren Hansen (ranked 4062 p4p, 5863 weight class) and Darko Stosic (ranked 424 p4p, 522 weight class). Hansen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is If I had a heart. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Soren Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darko Stosic!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hansen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Stosic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hansen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stosic looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hansen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stosic for as long as he can get away with.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stosic is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hansen in particular looking to stall.

Hansen seems to be working for a kimura but Stosic defends the submission attempt.

Hansen moves into full mount! Stosic won't be happy about that!

Hansen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Stosic turns into him and now he's in Hansen's guard.
Hansen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Stosic tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hansen is able to avoid easily.

Hansen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stosic looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stosic looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stosic!

Hansen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stosic's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hansen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Hansen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stosic can do to turn this around?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hansen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stosic's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hansen holds on and takes a little breather.

Hansen wants to work for an arm triangle but Stosic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hansen creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Hansen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Stosic down.

Stosic is not content to let Hansen control the position.
Stosic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hansen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stosic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hansen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stosic, who protects the arm well.
Hansen cracks Stosic with a big right hand but Stosic just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hansen connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stosic some visible discomfort.

Hansen lands a couple of good shots and Stosic has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Stosic is rocked!

Hansen working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Stosic is doing well to defend. Hansen seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Stosic is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Soren Hansen!
In his post fight interview, Soren Hansen started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
