Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Khabib Nurmagomedov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ward Shaver!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaver tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nurmagomedov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shaver throws a jab when Nurmagomedov was well out of range.
Nurmagomedov appears to be looking for a big counter.
Nurmagomedov throws a lazy uppercut
so Shaver counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Shaver tries to free his leg and advance position but Nurmagomedov is retaining full guard.
Shaver pushes down on Nurmagomedov's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Shaver is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nurmagomedov won't allow Shaver to pass to mount.

Nurmagomedov throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nurmagomedov pushes Shaver off looking to stand but Shaver dives back in and keeps control.
Shaver is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nurmagomedov defends it well.
Shaver is looking to take a break and control but Nurmagomedov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Shaver thows a huge punch but Nurmagomedov dodges it nicely.
Nurmagomedov is staying active underneath Shaver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nurmagomedov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Shaver is trying to work for a kimura but Nurmagomedov is defending well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nurmagomedov throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nurmagomedov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shaver.
Shaver fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shaver tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Nurmagomedov swivels and escapes.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ward Shaver.

It looks like Ward Shaver has been cut.
Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nurmagomedov throws a combination that misses
and Shaver counters with a nice uppercut.
Nurmagomedov cracks a nice hook into Shaver's ribs.
Shaver has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nurmagomedov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nurmagomedov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nurmagomedov sets himself, and Shaver steps forward looking for the clinch! Nurmagomedov avoids it this time.
Shaver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Nurmagomedov but Nurmagomedov pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Shaver tries to clinch up but Nurmagomedov circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shaver throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nurmagomedov's waist but Nurmagomedov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shaver off to one side.

Nurmagomedov Throws a clean left jab. Nurmagomedov Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Shaver's chin! Shaver crumbles to the ground and Nurmagomedov follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Nurmagomedov!

After winning the bout, Khabib Nurmagomedov thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
