Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dalmour Daxton (ranked 3261 p4p, 6449 weight class) and Pedro Penduko (ranked 408 p4p, 601 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dalmour Daxton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pedro Penduko! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Watson and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daxton displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Penduko dives in and scores a takedown into Daxton's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daxton is on top in guard.
Daxton trying to control but Penduko is working from the bottom. Daxton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penduko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penduko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daxton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Daxton trying to control the position from guard on top but Penduko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Daxton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Penduko is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Daxton has just dragged him back down to the mat. Daxton has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daxton working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Daxton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Daxton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penduko, who protects the arm well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daxton tries for a kimura but Penduko is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daxton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Penduko has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Daxton but great work by Penduko. Daxton is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Penduko's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Daxton slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Penduko looking to sit in guard and control but Daxton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Daxton trying to control but Penduko is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Penduko can do anything to dispel that myth. Daxton passes Penduko's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daxton trying to mount his opponent but Penduko defends it. Daxton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Penduko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Daxton. Daxton moves into full mount! Penduko won't be happy about that! Daxton swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Penduko is now in Daxton's guard. A big mistake from Daxton there, giving up the dominant position! Daxton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penduko wants to get back to full guard. Daxton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Penduko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Daxton. Penduko looks like he's trying to stand up.
Daxton is keen to just control but Penduko is a slippery customer. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Penduko is kicking away at Daxton from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Daxton grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Penduko trying to push Daxton off... Penduko taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Dalmour Daxton!
