PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Cox (ranked 4699 p4p, 5697 weight class) and Orion Khan (ranked 530 p4p, 587 weight class). Khan has chosen Pokémon - ARABIC OPENING | شارة بوكَيمون - رشا رزق as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Khan with a lazy takedown attempt
and Cox counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Khan is looking to clinch but Cox is avoiding it.
Khan has a takedown stuffed.
Cox circles away from the clinch attempt.
It looked like Cox wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Khan wants to clinch.
Khan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cox swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cox is looking to counter punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cox preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Khan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Khan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cox counters with a straight right hand.
Brutus Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Orion Khan.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Khan.
Cox connects with a good right hand that stumbles Khan. Khan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Khan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cox is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Orion Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Cox counters with a crisp right hand that drops Khan! Cox lets Khan back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Cox is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Khan misses with a two punch combination.
A counter left hand to the body from Cox misses its target.
Khan is still on wobbly legs! Can Cox finish him?
Khan throws a series of punches but Cox avoids them all with ease.
Khan seems to have recovered his senses.
Khan looks winded!

Khan pushes Cox up against the cage in a clinch.

Khan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Khan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Cox has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cox is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cox won't allow Khan to get back to his feet.
Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Khan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cox is controlling him.

Khan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cox off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Khan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Khan tries to clinch but Cox is having none of it.
It looked like Cox was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Khan.
Khan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cox counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Khan bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Cox comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Khan falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Khan was out before he hit the floor!
