Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Kersikov (ranked 25191 p4p, 25213 weight class) and Johnny Vareen (ranked 599 p4p, 622 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Kersikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Vareen! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vareen forces Kersikov back against the cage and clinches. Vareen misses with a knee strike.
Kersikov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Vareen to keep the fight standing. Vareen tries to circle away but Kersikov has him pinned against the cage. Kersikov breaks from the clinch.
Vareen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vareen wants it to stay on the feet. Horrible takedown attempt by Kersikov or perhaps it was just good defense by Vareen, which made it look bad. Vareen raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roman Kersikov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kersikov tries to clinch but Vareen moves out of range. Kersikov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vareen pinned against the cage. Vareen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vareen scores with a takedown into Kersikov's guard. Kersikov looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vareen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Kersikov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vareen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kersikov somewhat. Vareen lands a right hook to the body.
Kersikov gets tackled into the cage by Vareen. Vareen maintains the clinch. Vareen missing with knees to the body.
Kersikov trying to stall but Vareen improves his position.
Vareen tries to pull guard but Kersikov holds him up against the cage and eventually Vareen drops back down to his feet.
Kersikov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kersikov wants a takedown.
Kersikov looking for a takedown. Kersikov misses with a hook from the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kersikov. Kersikov fails to pull guard.
Kersikov gets control of Vareen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kersikov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Vareen stands up from Kersikov's guard - Vareen perhaps looking for a knockout. Kersikov with a lazy takedown attempt letting Vareen counter with a right hand. Vareen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vareen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kersikov is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Vareen has hold of Kersikov's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kersikov seems comfortable defending it but Vareen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kersikov is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kersikov is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Vareen couldn't care less - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnny Vareen! Our winner, Johnny Vareen, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
