The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benoit lands a leg kick that knocks Armstrong off balance momentarily.
Armstrong misses with a double jab.
Benoit throwing a counter right hand but Armstrong manages to avoid it.
Armstrong throws a left and a right that both miss
and Benoit counters with a low kick, right behind Armstrong 's knee.
Armstrong has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Benoit.
Benoit scores with a push kick.
Benoit slips under a jab from Armstrong.
Benoit is looking to counter punch.
Armstrong throws a combination that misses
and Benoit counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Armstrong thinking.
Armstrong just misses with a punch to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Armstrong. Those never looked like landing.
Armstrong falls off balance throwing a combination
and Benoit makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Armstrong looks winded!
Armstrong misses with a shot to the body
and Benoit counters with a nice low kick that buckles Armstrong's knee momentarily.
Armstrong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Benoit circles away quickly and effectively.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Benoit thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Armstrong if he has to take too many more of those.
Benoit swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Armstrong.

Benoit lands a big uppercut and Armstrong crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Armstrong looks OK. Benoit waves Armstrong back to his feet!

Armstrong is rocked!
Armstrong is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Benoit doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Armstrong crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Armstrong's bad books for that mishap!

After winning the bout, Christ Benoit thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
