Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 2582 p4p, 2775 weight class) and Otto Scheckter (ranked 327 p4p, 347 weight class). Shields's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Seven Nation Army. Otto Scheckter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jake Shields! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Otto Scheckter! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scheckter looks to land a left hand but Shields moved out of range nicely. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Scheckter displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shields. Scheckter lands with a shot to the body. Scheckter displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Jake Shields has been cut. Shields fails to land with a series of punches.
Shields misses with a wild body shot. Some wild striking there from Shields.
Jake Shields seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shields gets a double leg takedown into Scheckter's guard. Shields wants to pass the guard but Scheckter is keeping the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scheckter wants to sweep here but Shields controlling him for the moment. Scheckter managing to control the position. Shields advances position into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Scheckter has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shields tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shields has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shields working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Shields goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Scheckter has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Shields but great work by Scheckter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shields struggling a bit here. Shields tries to improve position but can't. Shields is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Shields is looking for a sweep. Scheckter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Shields actively working from the bottom here. Shields tries to roll over but Scheckter keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields gets back to full guard.

Scheckter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Shields can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scheckter controls the pace. Shields bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Scheckter's guard. Shields trying to control the position from guard on top but Scheckter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shields preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shields slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Scheckter is looking to regain half guard here but Shields keeps moving and retains side control. Shields tries for a kimura but Scheckter is defending well. Shields tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Scheckter gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Shields dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jake Shields's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Scheckter's corner calls for a 1-2. Scheckter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Shields throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shields takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Scheckter throws a nice inside leg kick. Shields throws a right hand that Scheckter ducks under and follows up with a left that Scheckter also avoids with ease. Shields throws a body punch but Scheckter moves out of range. Scheckter punishes Shields's body with a nice straight punch. Scheckter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shields. Otto Scheckter seems to be getting the better of the standup. Scheckter avoids the head kick by Shields.
Scheckter works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. No luck for Shields with that takedown attempt. Scheckter swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Shields throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Scheckter cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've been informed that Scheckter has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Scheckter slaps away a takedown attempt from Shields, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Shields. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scheckter cracks Shields with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Shields misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shields doesn't succeed with the takedown and Scheckter counters with a big right hand! Oh Shields is in trouble here! Scheckter follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Otto Scheckter! In his post fight interview, Otto Scheckter started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. In defeat, Jake Shields stepped up to the mic, saying 'As long as you're open-minded you can learn stuff from anyone.'.
